Although PLHIV play the vital role in care and support for PLHIV, there is an almost complete lack of psychological care and support for these caregivers themselves. In order to meet the urgent demand of caregivers of self-help groups, the project pilots a model of psychological care and improved capacity in psychological counselling for these caregivers.

Although PLHIV play the vital role in care and support for PLHIV, there is an almost complete lack of psychological care and support for these caregivers themselves. In order to meet the urgent demand of caregivers of self-help groups, the project pilots a model of psychological care and improved capacity in psychological counselling for these caregivers. Major activities are:
Process of capacity building applied experiential learning methods with a balance between theory and practice. The project experience is documented and widely shared with other organizations.
Final project evaluation report of independent consultant showed that “Psychological counseling and support for caregivers of PLHIV addressed in the project is essential in HIV/AIDS prevention and control. The project approach is to pilot a comprehensive model for psychological care and support including outdoor activities, psychological counseling, home visit have been considered as relevant and useful for caregivers. Outdoor and counseling is very interesting and relevant. Members of SHGs participated in this evaluation expect this model is expanded to all SHGs.
