Objective: To help orphaned and vulnerable children to grow up healthy and have a bright future

Project description: In response to the increasing need of support of orphaned children (mainly by HIV/AIDS) in Quang Ninh, the project provides comprehensive support for the most needed orphaned to ensure that they can continue to go to school. Major activities are:

• Building capacity for Women’s Union, relevant sectors, network of volunteers and caregivers on knowledge and skills to support orphaned children.
• Provision of direct support including monthly nutrition support, educational support (scholarship), emotional and psychosocial support, health care service for the most needed orphaned.
• Provision of vocational training and employment support for youths and caregivers

Key achievements

After 6 years of implementation, the project has

• Provided monthly nutrition support for 5,112 child-time at 14 wards of Ha Long city and 3 wards of Cam Pha town.
• Organized health check up for 680 child-time including general examination and school related diseases.
• Conducted 9,218 visits to children's house to provide support and monitor physical and psychological development of children, and positive changes of children's living environment.
• Organized 10 social events and outdoor activities for children on occasion of traditional festivals and children day, and provided life skills training for children. Life skills training covered prevention of sexual abuse, prevention of child labor, prevention of drug abuse, prevention of human trafficking, and prevention of domestic injury.
• Organized 14 training courses for child caregivers on child rights and child participation, physical and psychological development of children, parental skills, nutrition and cooking.
