Objective: Build capacity on drug prevention education for 30 key members of Youth Union and Student Association and raise awareness on drug related issues and prevention measures for 2000 students of Nghe An teaching college.

Project description: 

Drug use has spread widely in Nghe An for years. Young youths have been at risk of drug abuse and HIV infection, resulted in increasing number of young PLHIV in Nghe An province. To contribute to drug abuse prevention and prevention of HIV among youths, the project focus on  following major activities:

• Training for key member of youth union and student association on drug harm and drug abuse prevention.
• Organization of communication activities for students of the college through group communication and events.
• Conducted communication activities for drugs users and their female sexual partners in selected wards of Vinh city on drug harm and drug abuse prevention.

Major achievements:

Improved knowledge and skills for drug abuse prevention for 31 key members of youth union of the college. These trained members worked as educators for drugs prevention at the college.

• Improved knowledge and skills for 3,300 students of the college for drug abuse prevention through diverse and innovative communication activities.
• Reached 2,216 youths, drugs users and their sexual partners in surrounding wards of Nghe An teaching college on drug harm and drug abuse prevention.
• Developed and distributed 5,000 communication materials for drug prevention.
